Patience, Patients

Coming home today after a long 3 days at work....Make it a long few months of work, I was Thinking.......of how....

Working at an urgent care during Covid, is not the same as working at a hospital. So no, we do not get the same recognition. We don’t get to have “hero’s work here” signs. We also are not actively treating Covid positive patients. I will bow down and kiss the feet of healthcare workers dealing with Covid in hospitals! THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU ARE DOING!! SINCERELY!!

We are, however, standing outside in all of the elements, swabbing lines of people that sometimes wrap around the building, because people want to be tested for Covid. Some people are sick, some people are exposed, some people are traveling out of the country during a global pandemic!!?!

***************disclosure**************

***INSERTING PERSONAL OPINION***

Is it REALLY a good idea to travel, on a plane, with circulated stale air. Especially when some airlines are approving Rapid Covid tests, which are far less accurate and can give false negative results, leading to you sitting on a plane with a Covid Positive person who assumes they are negative, while breathing in the now circulated Covid-y air that they were breathing, because Aruba and Hawaii are THAT important?

and some people want one because they haven’t had one before.

We are out there during the 90+ degree summer heat, summer rain, cold fall rain and soon to be snow. (BTW shame on us for closing due to the tropical storm. I guess the idea of poking someone’s brain with 50mph winds, although it’s a “no no” in our book, it is not okay to close in the eyes of some.)

*We are being exposed to Covid, because you continue to walk into the office ignoring all 5 signs written in 3 different languages, underlined in red, and highlighted in yellow, stating “Covid testing is outside, if you have these listed symptoms or want to schedule a Covid test please call the office”

*We are being yelled at, because you lost your patience - because you won’t let us get a word in to explain the process that you are misunderstanding

*We are being honked at while trying to carefully process the last patient’s swab to get ready to swab you, who is next in line.

*We are being yelled at, because you’re sitting home while you are in quarantine, waiting too long to video chat the doctor, but we haven’t had breakfast yet and have been holding our bladder for the last 4 hours, lunch... is not in our vocabulary, and the coffee we started in the Keurig is still sitting there from 8am, because we didn’t have time to add cream, sugar and stir.

So while you lost your patience, we are trying our best to keep our composure while you are not doing the same. Keep in mind, we are people too, we have stomachs that are growling for food, bladders full to the brim, feelings that are spent, and we too are worried for our families.

While we are trying to get your swab taken care of, we are trying to keep ourselves safe, so we don’t bring this horrible virus home to our families.

Food for thought.
