Kitchen Duty

Updated: Jul 28, 2022

Over the last few days I have had female stereotypes blasted across my computer screen. I understand that certain religions have their beliefs. I was raised Catholic. I believe in God; but as an adult, I have grown to become not so much a fan of organized religion. I think, if I want to talk to my God, I can do it any time, any place, with out a church sending me envelopes in the mail telling me to donate at least X amount of money. I understand some people are raised to believe that women and men have certain roles they are supposed to take on and maintain, that is their choice. But me, as a woman born of the 80's, I was taught, I can do and be whatever I want when I grow up. I do not want anti-feminists shaming me for that.

In a town not far from where I live, there was a religious protest being demonstrated, and to them I say, to each their own.

But! The Coronavirus is NOT God's judgement of feminism! MEN DO NOT OWN WOMEN!! Feminists are NOT whores! Women do NOT belong in the kitchen!

Yes I wear pants! Hell! I wear pajama bottoms and comfy clothes on a regular basis! I work! YES! Me! a woman, I work and I wear PANTS to work! Women are not only meant to cook and be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen! We are meant to be whatever we want to be. We fought to have the rights we have! And to people protesting that we should not, puts us back hundreds of years.

(DISCLAIMER- INSERTING A PERSONAL OPINION BELOW)

Little girls should not be protesting with their parents, showing that they need to be OWNED by a man, that they have to wear dresses, they have to be in the kitchen, and If they believe that they have rights and can be whatever they want when they grow up, that means they are whores! That is absolutely the wrong message to be sending to little girls! (Personal opinion)

We are intelligent, strong, and independent. We do not need a man to take care of us. We can choose to have a man walk beside us on this ride called life, but that is our choice. RBG worked her whole life for women's rights. Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson and Dorothy Vaughan worked for NASA! Talk about some seriously intelligent women! Do you think Amelia Earhart would be found wearing a dress, living a life of just cooking and cleaning? Sojourner Truth fought for women's rights and race equality. Susan B. Anthony fought for gender and race equality. Madam CJ Walker was a self made millionaire! She was an entrepreneur, philanthropist and a political and social activist. None of these women needed a man to get where they went in life. Women have been fighting for our rights for hundreds of years! And we are NOT going to let them down! Thank you to all the women who helped us and OUR future generations to live the life we want and so much deserve!
